With masters degrees in Health Science as well as Transpersonal Psychology, Charis has spent many years immersed in the study of mind-body connections that extended beyond her schooling. She has been a Reiki practitioner for seven years, and has worked with individuals in all stages of life, currently specializing in Maternal Reiki.
Charis received a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida in 2003. Earlier that year she discovered Reiki and received her Level I and Level II certifications. She pursued her first master's degree from the University of Florida, majoring in Health Education and Behavior with a specialization in Adapted Physical Activity. Although she loved her research (on optimism, happiness, and health) and her work as a health and fitness instructor for undergraduate students, Charis knew that her next scholastic goals had to be of a holistic nature. The frustration she felt, surrounded by individuals who only believed in allopathic healing methods and health norms, spurred Charis to pursue her further graduate education in a more holistic area. She received her Master's in Health in 2006 and quickly joined a Ph.D. program in Transpersonal Psychology at the INsitute of Transpersonal Psychology, based in Palo Alto, CA. Charis received a second master's degree, this time in Transpersonal Psychology, in 2008. This education was the perfect marriage between what Charis learned through her studies of psychology during her undergraduate years, health during her graduate years, and the mind/body/spirit connection during her Reiki training and sessions with clients throughout. In early 2010, just one year from graduating with a Ph.D., Charis decided to pursue her passion full-time as a holistic health and wellness consultant and Maternal Reiki practitioner.
After they met and fell in love, she and Terry, a writer and anthropology graduate from Notre Dame, found that their shared, acute passion for holistic health, wellness, and independent spirituality – combined with their experience in education and consulting – made them perfect partners for further study and the spreading of the most effective methods for elevating minds, bodies, and spirits.
Charis and Terry’s mission focuses completely on bringing their full efforts, wisdom, and holistic understanding to create life-changing retreat and consultation experiences that inspire, educate, and embolden their clients in the lifelong process of expanding awareness and self-determination.
